Paul Krugman has another nice graph showing why the democrat will win this election year.
Summary: The support the for incumbent party is directly proportional to the growth of the economy the year before the election.
Conclusion: The economy is not doing well, so neither would the republicans.
Add to that the war, that's pretty decisive.
